The Republican candidate recognized his defeat and congratulated Barack Obama for his victory. He even said that he admired Illinois’ Senator and that this election was a historical moment for all the people, but also for blacks: “I realize that this election is a special moment for the Afro-American community.”
He also told his supporters that he is responsible for the defeat: “It’s my defeat, not yours”, even if he acknowledged that he didn’t know what else he could have done to win this election.
As a conclusion, he also promised to help Barack Obama to improve the situation in a country they both love.
