In his presidential race, John McCain is helped by his youngest child, the vivacious Meghan McCain. But the blond girl has not always agreed with her father’s ideas

Perfect make-up, curly blond hair, a bright smile, Meghan McCain is the glam touch in John McCain’s campaign. She has chosen to do her best to help out in her father’s race for the White House.

She’s 24 ("Scorpio”, she adds) and, just like her father, she’s a straight talker. For example, she confesses she once almost became a Democrat as she was a rebellious teen, and claims she voted for John Kerry during the 2004 presidential election. She previously described herself as an independent, “liberal on social issues”. She also thinks that Barack Obama is “interesting” and “cute”.

Media and seduction

But as a Father’s Day gift, she registered as a Republican. “It's time to reinvent the Republican party. And I think my dad can do it”, she explained. Meghan McCain had some writing and media experience working for Newsweek and Saturday Night Live –she planned to become a music journalist. She decided to help her daddy showing a side of her father most people don’t know: his everyday life. Thus, she published a book praising her father: 'My Dad, John McCain' and writes on her blog, McCain Blogette. On her website, she documents life on the campaign trail, with lots of pictures and videos.

Sometimes, Meghan McCain’s support is quite unusual. In an interview with Glamour Magazine, the Columbia University graduate (major in art history) says that she wanted to get a “McCain” tattoo on her back – a project she later abandoned, because of her father’s veto.

In the coming years, John McCain’s youngest daughter, who is a fashion addict, will try to pursue a career in design, hoping to create “a high-end couture line that goes up to plus sizes”. Unless her commitments in politics show her another way.
