Even before the crash of Wall Street, voters always listed the economy as the top issue in the presidential election.
After the global financial crisis, the US foresees job losses pushing the global unemployment rate above 200 million for the first time ever around the world.
Unemployed voters said that who ever says they will keep jobs in their communities and in the country will get their votes.
The American economy lost 129,000 jobs in September, the worst month in five years. This amplifies fears that the downturn has entered a more severe stage. And don't expect the situation to get better anytime soon.
Both Obama and McCain claim to know how to cure the U.S. economyu, which is undeniably sick.
McCain wants to reform unemployment insurance by proposing an enhanced retraining program. Obama thinks unemployment benefits should be extended during a recession.
McCain voted FOR
He voted AGAINST
Conclusion: John McCain is not a strong advocate for unionization, but feels that we must protect small farmers.
Obama voted FOR
Conclusion: Obama believes that the minimum wage should be a “living wage” and argues that workers are not benefiting from globalization. He thinks also that tax cuts for the rich will not help to create jobs and that unions should be strengthened.
