Welcome to the big Obama victory party at the Palais M. with Young Democrats. More than a thousand people are gathered to celebrate the possible victory of their candidate : Barack Obama. A sum up hour by hour.

2 AM
The Palais M. is now completely full. This hour starts with new projections. Obama is ahead with 77 electoral votes against 34 for John McCain. Senator Obama has a serious advantage but it’s very early. People start to be really confident. CNN then projects that Barack Obama will win Connecticut, Delaware, Illinois, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Washington and New Hampshire. John McCain will win Oklahoma, South Carolina and Tennessee.
A bell starts to ring. Music has totally stopped. People are focused on the television. Anna, 32 years, an American woman who lives in Paris doesn’t want to talk when Pennsylvania’s projection is announced: “You don’t realize! Obama wins with 65%, it’s wonderful!”. Ambiance starts to be warmer, people are shouting and applauding. The chief of staff takes the mike: “We’re all Obama people! There are twice as many people as we expected”.
The Obagels show is now about to start: 700 bagels are going to be distributed.
